We collect information you provide directly when you:

  • Create an account: Name, email address, password, school/organisation name, role (teacher/student/admin)

3.1 AI Processing

Our AI-powered features process personal information to provide educational support. This includes:

  • AI companion conversations (personalised tutoring, homework help)
  • Automated content generation (quizzes, flashcards)
  • Wellbeing monitoring and flagging of concerning content
  • Automated grading assistance (always subject to teacher review)

Important: AI-assisted decisions that significantly affect students (such as final grades or disciplinary recommendations) are never made solely by automated systems. Teachers always have the ability to review and override AI suggestions.

4. Children's Privacy

Special Protections for Students

We take the privacy of children seriously. Teacher Screen is designed for use in educational settings where schools act as intermediaries for student data collection.

  • Parental Consent: For students under 15, we require school verification that appropriate parental/guardian consent has been obtained before collecting personal information.
  • Data Minimisation: We only collect information necessary for educational purposes.
  • No Marketing: We never use student data for marketing or advertising purposes.
  • No Selling: We never sell student personal information to third parties.
  • AI Safety: AI companions include content filtering and safety monitoring.

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Schools: Teachers and administrators can access student data within their classroom
  • Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate (hosting, payment processing, analytics)
  • AI Providers: AI services (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) for companion features (see Section 6)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect safety
  • Business Transfers: In connection with merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

5.1 Cross-Border Data Transfers (APP 8)

Some of our service providers are located overseas, including in the United States. When we transfer personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients handle information in accordance with the APPs. This includes contractual protections requiring overseas recipients to comply with Australian privacy standards.
